A Sacred Step Forward
With full hearts and deep reverence, we are honored to share the next evolution of this sacred gathering:
New Orleans National Vodou Day is now New Orleans International Vodou Day.
This shift in name reflects a truth we have always carried—that Vodou is both deeply local and profoundly global. Rooted in the rich soil of New Orleans and held in the hands of community, our work continues to center the vibrant traditions, practitioners, and spiritual leaders right here at home.
At the same time, we move forward with deep gratitude for the international ties that made Vodou in New Orleans possible. We walk in the footsteps of those who carried these sacred traditions across oceans, guided by the ancestors and shaped by generations of resistance, resilience, and ritual.
This change is not a departure—it is a deepening. A fuller reflection of who we are and who we are becoming.
We will continue to honor the local New Orleans Vodou community as the heart of this event, while strengthening the sacred connections that stretch from Haiti to Benin and beyond.
Thank you for growing with us
